Diagnostic US is a non-invasive tool that can be used to evaluate for soft tissue damage (i.e. muscle, tendon, and ligament tears) as well as assess areas of inflammation (i.e. joint effusion, bursitis, cyst formation) and obstructions causing nerve entrapment, without exposure to radiation.
Therapeutic Injections/procedures: Utilizing US to guide a needle to the target area is a safe and effective way to ensure proper placement. With direct visualization of local nerves/blood vessels there is reduced risk of injury during the procedure and immediate confirmation that the target has been reached. This leads to a greater likelihood of a painless procedure and greater pain relief with the injection.
